Public Relations Manager

 


Job Title: Street Team Marketing Advocates

Location: Miscellaneous locations throughout the city of Rochester. Home base will be an advertising agency, Tipping Point Media located on Alexander Street.

Start Date: On or around April 30, 2012

Job Description: Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. We are looking for high-energy, outgoing individuals to help us raise awareness, interact and engage with our local community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent the organization at different community events throughout the city.
  • Interacting with parents and children.
  • Handing out flyers/relevant information at appropriate locations in Rochester and to the correct demographic while promoting the Be A Healthy Hero Campaign.
  • Interviewing parents to talk about their successes or challenges at home in living a 5-2-1-0 life (5 Fruits and Veggies; 2 hours or less of screen time; 1 hour of active play, or 0 sugary drinks.)
  • Managing others (there will be one lead position), scheduling team members, obtaining approvals from venues and releases from parents.
  • Use of a flip camera to conduct interviews, perform simple edits to video clips to be used on social media sites (Facebook, YouTube, etc.)

 

Experience/Skills Needed: You’re social, have strong people skills, are outgoing, and are a high-energy individual that is enthusiastic about promotions and marketing. You enjoy a fun working environment and working in teams. You are reliable, well organized, trust worthy, have good judgment, and are confident reaching out and talking to people.

Details: This is a part time, temporary job late April – August. Must have a valid drivers license (mileage is reimbursed) and car insurance or transportation to/from all events. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, festivals and parks. We are hiring up to 5 team members. Bilingual will be preferred, but not mandatory. Minorities are encouraged to apply.

Job Title: Public Relations Manager

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years experience in a public relations position or at an agency. This IS NOT an entry level position.

Reports to: President, Tipping Point Public Relations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations
    • News release development, distribution and follow-up
    • Media material development and dissemination
      • Press kits, Media alerts/Photo op alerts/Calendar listings, Backgrounders, Executive biographies, Fact sheets, Etc.
      • Story pitching
      • Development and maintenance of relationships with key media
      • List development
      • Measurement

 

  • Special Events
    • PR Managers coordinate the implementation of special events, including press conferences, grand openings, groundbreakings, open houses, sales meetings, etc.
    • Coordination of miscellaneous needs

 

  • Social Media Programs

 

  • Client Management
    • Personally manage small- to mid-sized accounts
    • Establish strong professional relationships with clients

 

  • Other duties as requested

 

Ideal candidates should have more than 5 years of experience, have a current driver’s license and access to a vehicle, and should possess strong skills in:

  • Writing
  • Time management
  • Interpersonal relationships and client service
  • Teamwork
